Fig Afghanistanica Fig Afghanistanica

Afghan Fig-Ficus Afghanistanica- the Mountain Fig.

As you can imagine this is a tough plant, from Afghanistan -obviously ,where it can get very cold so I'm told.
Not one for fruit though as it is a capri fig, mostly male also, with the fruit containing the pollen which is not worth eating.
This Fig tree is grown for its foliage which is stunning, small leaves but lots of them,deeply cut aroung the edges and when you look up through them -which you have to do as it is vigorous, the effect in the sunlight is beautiful. The tree will get large and is best planted in the garden as a specimen to be looked through - or up at.
