Magnolia Cultural Advice

Magnolia will grow best in full sun or partial shade, too much shade will cause the tree to become leggy and reduce flowering.
Shelter from wind is beneficial, especially for the larger leaved species.Evergreen magnolia will not like cold winter winds or snow and ice.

Magnolia grow best in a well drained loam, ph of 5.5 - 6.5, with plenty of organic matter. Planting container trees can be done at any time, remember Magnolia have shallow roots and will benefit from a good sized planting hole and plenty of moisture during the growing season. Do not tease out the rootball as this may cause damage to the soft fleshy roots. Stake the tree carefully and feed with a balanced slow release fertiliser.

Once established ,Magnolia need minimal care save from maintaining soil fertility and mulching the tree. Do not hoe around the base as this can damage the root system. Good mulching will keep weeds down and maintain the soil ph.

Our Magnolia are currently in production . A few grafted trees are ready and will appear here soon , the rest in the near future. The list is just the start of our collection. All are propagated by us and are grafted trees 4-5ft tall.
