This plant was named 'Chelsea' by the late Robert garner of East Malling. Cuttings from the famous tree in the Chelsea Physic Garden, planted by King James II were rescued when the tree was destroyed early in the 1939-45 war. Large mulberry red fruits of fine flavour, excellent for eating fresh, in pies, in preserves and mulberry gin or wine. Our plants, grown from cuttings usually fruit within 3 years or so of planting.They benefit from water in dry spells, especially when the fruit is colouring. 4-5ft 3yr old trees
