"Home grown oranges, produced in light, airy, well heated and properly managed structures are much superior in flavour to imported fruit"
This statement by Horace Wright in his 'Fruit Growers Guide' is as true now as it was seventy years ago and is encouragement enough to grow the 'Golden Apple' of mythology and its many relatives, and obtain quite delicious crops.
Orange trees are widely grown across the world for orange fruit production and for Orange juice. Oranges are one of the best sources of Vitamin C readily available in an easy open package hygienically wrapped in its own orange skin.
Oranges come in many varieties, the famous Jaffa orange is well known as is the Washington Navel Orange. Blood Oranges such as Moro Blood or Malta Blood orange are valued for their rich flavour. An Orange tree is not difficult to grow, thriving in a conservatory or orangery .The growing conditions for orange trees are simple ,they like good light and some humidity if possible with regular feeding using a special orange feed. An Orange grown and ripened on your own orange tree will taste far superior to any oranges from a supermarket which will have been picked long before they were fully ripe.
A full cultural leaflet on how to grow your orange tree will be supplied with any orange tree purchased.
